So I was driving last night and it was raining and I think I hit a big puddle of water cause a whole lot of it came splashing up and covered my whole left side. After that my brakes, alternator, power steering, and water pump (but I didn't realize it till about 2 minutes later) went out. I babied it to the nearest gas station and parked. I figured the water must have shorted out something so I turned off everything running in my car to save the battery. Then I went through my logger to find my coolant at a temp of 248. Ouch. I quickly killed the engine and opened the hood and radiator cap. That's when I noticed the belt came right off the pulleys for everything listed above. So how screwed am I? If I had any doubts I have a blown head gasket, they're gone now. I really don't know what happened. There was squeaking coming from the belt before but I didn't know what to make of it. Now I'm paying for it. I hope my head isn't warped.

You should be ok, I had a simalar thing happen to me. I was "playing" with another car and my belt brooke. I quickly shut it down and limped home (stopping several times to cool down), and all was good.

First off I don't know how that would kill your brakes.
But anyhow, you may be okay. Check for coolant loss, oil mixing with coolant or vice versa. You should be okay as long as you weren't driving it hard or anything. Run a leak down test and you can find out for sure.

I don't know how it would kill my brakes either. All I know is my brake light came on right after and I was losing pressure. I'll check the balancer this weekend when I get home from school.

Had a mechanic looked at it. Figured it was the balancer pulley. Replaced that. Runs smoother now. But it makes a squeal whenever I turn and/or accelerate. It's annoying as hell. Oh well. No coolant in oil. No visible exhaust smoke either. I guess my luck is holding.
