My mechanic just called me telling me this is why my car isnt starting. My question is would it be beneficial to buy a 6 bolt head instead?

Ouch! Yea I would just have your head rebuilt. & make sure you use an OEM timing belt & tensioner kit too. Cheap aftermarket advanced auto parts stuff doesn't bode well. Lol

I'd be rather interested how the belt just came off. Did it break, did the timing slip or did it just somehow come off the pullies. Was it in your mechanics possession when this happened or were you driving it?

Assuming you mean 2g, why do you believe it flows better? The ports are smaller..

OP you should just get your current head rebuilt.. and do what was said above and figure out what exactly happened with the timing belt.

This has been discussed and proven many times, the smaller ports flow better at lower horsepower levels because they provide more velocity. They will produce a better power band than a 1g head.

He showed me the belt today, my mistake it didn't come off, the teeth were gone. i figure i get one now to get it running then rebuild it later on.

You should rebuild yours that way you know you have a good solid head before you put in on your engine. You'll be better off that way in the long run and it'll be cheaper too.
