So when I got my car it had river tail light assys so I bought some stockers and put them on. Welp the other day I went in my trunk and the whole spare tire section was filled with water. I removed all my trunk trim nd water tested with a hose to find the water pouring in from the top of my tail lights. I took them off to find their was no gasket or seal behind them nor was there any on the ones I took off. I tied some aftermarket weather striping but it hasn't worked. Anyone have this happen to them or any ideas of what to do?

Not if you don't put the rtv sealant on then bolt the tailight on..If you let it harden it will turn out to be a gasket..It might not be flat, but as soon as you bolt it on it will compress and form a nice seal..

Did you remember to put the little foam gasket in? And was it torn at all?

No there wasn't any foam gasket in the first place. I'm prob going to the junkyard tomorrow ill look for them.

I was thinking about using rtv before but wasn't sure how to use it this way might just do this if i cant find the seal.

I'm pretty sure my 2G is leaking from the tail lights too.
But I'm getting water all the way to the carpet in the front seats.
I just checked the drain lines one was clogged so I replaced it.
I'm just not sure how the water is getting into the car that far.
I had to pull out the carpet and throw it away.:banghead:

WOW That's crazy. I have a leak somewhere in my hatch that I haven't been able to track down. For the tail lights, I would get some weatherstripping from walmart or something and put on the back side of the lights. Once I figure out my issue, that is going to be next. Because it will be on the backside, no one will see the tacky stripping.
