Wastegate stuck open?

I just installed a walbro 255, Apex turbo back, tubular o2 housing with external dump on my 93 talon. It sounds like I have an exhaust leak but the whole system was double checked. It is coming from the external dump. Could this be a bad actuator, or the flap inside the turbo? Also would this cause a whining sound like a siren considering it is a boost leak. Would this cause lack of power also. Thanks

Are you sure it's not just the sound of the wastegate dumping? or are you having a lack of power and it's not building boost?

Are you able to reach full boost? If the wastegate is stuck open your turbo will have trouble boosting until you're at really high rpms if much at all.

At idle you hear the exhaust leaking out through the external dump. There is a lot of lag at low rpm's and the whining like there in a boost leak. I was leaning towards the actuator or the flapped.

Check the preload on the actuator, your flapper may not be closing all the way. Try putting washers in between your actuator and the turbin housing to see if that helps.

Please update your vehicle mod info. Preload sounds like the answer but what turbo are you running and the rest of the mods please.mark

i am having a problem with my wastegate staying open.. i have external dump pipe o2 and i can hear it like i have and exhaust leak at idle.. also my car was set at 19lbs boost with old turbo and only goes to 15-16 with wastegate problem.. what should i do??
