wastegate springs

i want to put a mbc in my car, but a freind said i have to adjust my wastegate spring by turning the nut. my wastegate spring is set to about 10 psi (i think), and he said that if i were to put in the mbc, i wouldn't be able to go past 10 psi which i'd like to go up to about 16-18 psi. would that matter?...or can i just hook the mbc and adjust the mbc then go to 18 psi of boost?

Spring sets the minimum. With a MBC, you'll be able to go over that. That's what they are for

but without the mbc, i can still put more psi by adjusting the wastegate spring right.?

If your's is adjustable, then yes, that's the way it would go. You will run out of spring tensioning ability at some boost level and will need a new spring though, that's why MBC's are rad.

i'm using an internal wastegate that came with my b16g...
