:)bought a short block for $1200 bucks . has weisco pistons 8.3-1 ,eagle rods new crank , 1$1800 dolars worth of machine work and fully assembled ,new oil pump ,water pump, full gasket kit , all new seals ,timing belt and everything in the timing assembly .the block was resurfaced and magna fluxed . how much horsepower will this hold up to .:)

Of course it is, unless it was ran, or assembled wrong. I would do a compression test to make sure the rings were installed properly, If the head wasnt torqued properly it will or already has blown a HG. How many miles on it? H beam or I beam rods?

how do you get 1800 in just machine work? do you get reciepts with this engine? i guess you wrote wrong and i answered your first part of being just a short block........... then see it says that all the timing was done already, so it must be a LONG BLOCK with a head????

i'd say you got a good deal just my because my wiesco & eagle rod combo came out to like $750 alone, my machine work\assembly came out to $1160 but that included decking, boring, servicing crank, file fitting rings and assembly. Also grinding valves and servicing the head. Installing Springs & retainers.

I got the same setup off of a guy who really needed the money I guess?? 900 dollars and his reciepts which he gave me total around 15-1600

:Dit was just the short block ,with all new pullies and idler wheels . it was never ran it was sitting in his garage for over 2 years . it was assembled by a very good machine shop ,but I checked everthing over to make sure . it is now in the car and will be fired up tomorrow .he gave me over $ 4000 dollars in reciepts for the motor .the rods are H beam pro series ,all the parts came from slowboy racing . I will try to post some pictures I took on my cel phone .

I'm not sure how you can get that much in machine work alone just on a short block. I have Wiseco 8.3 to 1 pistons and Eagle rods. The block is bored out .020 over and the deck was resurfaced. I did all that for just under $1200. Either way though, hope it works out for ya. Its always exciting getting the first built motor in your car :thumb:

$750 for so for the pistons and rods sounds like about normal. The rest in machine work sounds extremely excessive.

Boring shouldn't cost you more than $200, decking $50, and $150 for cutting the crank. The rest of it I wouldn't know the costs, since I assembled myself. I hope you get a detailed receipt saying what procedure cost what.

When I was younger and much more inexperienced in building engines, I had a shop stroke me out of $1000 for a bored, decked, and cleaned engine along with pistons. I paid the money up front, and they totaled the bill to it.

Sonds like really good deal, but the most important question is:

How the machine work was performed??? I've seen a lot of people with "built" motors, but sometimes you wouldn't believe, who and how assembled the motor. It is very important for machinist to know 4g63 and how to assemble the block, head etc. It is not the machine work itself only. But since you bought it already, I wish you good luck.

The guy who bored my block was $18.00 per hole. He is very reputable around here, and builds drag race engines for quite a few people I know personally.

My block was tanked, cut, washed, painted, magnufluxed, and the deck was checked to be in spec, as well as the bearing journals on the girdle, and all done for about $250

My new 4g64 block will be done by him also as soon as Oliver from SBR gets me my pistons. It's always very important to have the walls cut in spec to the pistons requirements!
