what would I all need to do to my car to add a normal 16g or the evo big 16g to my 1993 awd eagle talon tsi with the 4g63 6 bolt engine? any replies would be greatly appreciated as I am new to dsms and this site

"need" - nothing. Any DSM bolt-on/j-pipe 16g is physically identical to the stock turbo on the outside.

"recommend" - new bolts, crush washers, gaskets, and ideally supporting mods (wideband, exhaust, fuel upgrade, IC/piping, engine management, clutch, etc)

Dude you have to search more!! This topic is beat to death on here and been done thousands of times. You have a 1g the easiest to switch to a 16g turbo!! If you can't do a simple search on this topic and find the how to's, I don't think your ready to even do a turbo swap! Quit being lazy bro! Lol

sorry guys I just did a little search online and didn't come up with much guess I need to be more specific with my wording. but I ment like what mods would I need as the other guy stated like wide band and exhaust and whatnot? so just search 1g 16g turbo swap mods?

thanks for the help

Noob question but what's pm's and would I need better injectors also?

If you are on a budget and and just want to get your car into the decent area with a 16g here is my suggestion:
Genuine 16g (Small/Big/Evo3 all are fine)
Walbro 255lph /w Rewire
Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator
560cc Evo Injectors
VRSF FMIC Kit - keep your 1g BOV
2g MAF & 2g Exhaust Manifold
Egay Exhaust - get a decent downpipe either custom or something like a Megan.
EProm ECU and if you want to go cheap just get a chip from a freelancer tuner on here or if you have the money opt for ECMLink v3 lite

Just that alone could get you to mid 12's pretty easily, you could even push to 11's with race gas and a good tune.

Obviously shop used for things like the injectors, ecu(or get yours converted), 2g maf, 2g exhaust manifold, FP, 16g

Also do you have to do any of the step one free mods or can I just go straight to mods after I get new hoses and gaskets

as everyone always says don't worry about doing mods until you get everything serviced and get it in perfect mechanical condition.. one thing that took me forever to actually do was swap to urethane motor mounts but now that I did it I cant believe I waited so long I love the way it drives now..

don't buy a knock off ebay turbo either, unless you really want to get good at pulling and swapping turbos all the time :D

and chance killing your engine as well.

Free mods aren't required.

I will be running this setup in my 91 Galant VR4<--has same engine as your car. Have all these acquired and build in session:

-Evo III 16g Turbo, Manifold and O2 housing... these parts are good for 300whp EASY
-Front mount Intercooler w/2.5" pipes
-Evo IX 560cc injectors (300whp) and MAS (500whp)
- Aeromotive Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
-3' Exhaust and 22psi wastegate
-Socketed ECU and custom chip with Innovate Wideband Gauge
Etc.. Etc..

The main thing is that do make sure your maintenence is done and when your engine is running, that it never knocks. Quite a bit of research before I would suggest you start upgrading. This is a great site with some good links above..

You can find many posts about what people suggest you'll need to run the 16g. The best thing is to know what you expect your car to do after you replace the turbo. Honestly I wouldn't add the turbo until I had a better fuel set up and a way to monitor what it's doing and something to tune for it. I've seen several time where someone just throws a 16g on adds the j-pipe and ends up running around figuring out why the gas mileage sucks and why their car is always sputtering, and starts slandering DSM cars instead of doing their research to find out what they should've done in the first place to avoid all that.

Long story short, do your research before you just go adding parts
