I want a turbo.

Hello all. About a week ago i road in my friends 99 GSX. It changed my life. I have never really liked cars until I got into the GSX. I like the way it sounds inside and i am going to buy one. My only question is, will the GST ( 4000 less then a GSX ) be any different in sound and acceleration? Does the AWD give it a different feel? My friend says flooring it at 3000rpm's in a GST won't feel the same as in the GSX. Is this true?? I would like to just get the GST and get rims, I don't plan to mod the engine in any way i just want it for the sound and stock speed. Any input would be appreciatied. Thanks.

in your case i would say go ahead and go for the GST. The GSX is all wheel drive and will be quite a bit faster off of the line from a stop. The GST is Front wheel drive and will be quicker from a rolling start. If you do not plan on doing a lot of racing from stoplights and just like the speed, go with the cheaper GST. The sound will be exactly the same, they both have exactly the same engine in them unless you change engine components like the blow off valve.

wtf?!?...stock speed?..ok if you say so...I might not be correct, but I'm guessing that sounds come from your whole exhaust under the car, from the downpipe to the muffler tip. I might be wrong. Anyways, there are different companies that make their own types of downpipes, catbacks which in the end will give you your different sounds...?!?! make sense..sorry i want to try smart but I'm sure the next post will correct me...hahhahah!


BTW, changing the way your car sounds, you will be forced to mod it..hahaha you can't change the sound without modding it...woot! thats a fact<< unless you have no muffler or whatever


I have a GST...I can't say much about AWD for i don't have one..but in my car it pulls from 2500 rpm....it all depends what turbo you have and lag and spooling of the turbo and supporting mods..I have all hard pipes in my car. AWD you won't feel it as much when pulling from 2500 then a FWD because FWD = pulls you from the front...

if you plan on racing at all,...which btw..nobody buys a dsm and leaves it stock.. unless they don't know they have a DSM...AWD is the way to go...

Well kid... I see no point to my modding. Since a week ago i have been reading and found a problem called crankwalk.... I don't race so making it faster would be pointless. You are right though my friend said he has a full exsaust. I may do this but will probly be as far as i go with it. So the GST seems to be the way thanks alot guys.

DUDE.......DO NOT LET....crankwalk scare you...yeah they happen sometimes...you only here about them becuase the people who get it. complain about it while all other 7-Bolt Blocks are fine....If thats the only thing that worrys you, IMO you have nothing to worry about really...chances of CW are slim to none..if your getting a Automatic...you really have nothing to worry about as much as the manuals becuase of the power people take these motors..if the mileage on the car your getting is more than 90k...your okay man. I am not guranteeing(spelling) anything...jus my opinion..


buying a DSM and putting "turboback" on just for sounds..IMO...NO COMMENT ..but hey, its up to you, to answer you question though yes ask your friend what downpipe and catback he has and shit..and if your into sounds than jus under the car...research BOV's....I have greddy s and its sweet....haha..others might be HKS SSQ, 1g BOV..etc.

Hey, btw....look at some of the people's profile about their car from the 93 late models and up DSMs with the "crankwalk probability bottom ends" unless they swapped to 6-bolt...see what mods they have.. Crank Walk is just two words... (wtf does that mean?) x my point is agian....DO NOT BE SCARED!!! go for it buddy...

crankwalk is overrated, but it's simply a fact that most DSMers accept.. maybe your car will, maybe it wont. i'd say the odds of you CW'ing is slim.. but if you do, it's just an excuse for a 6bolt anyway.

trust me, once you get something called a boost controller.. you'll be wanting a 6bolt w. a big ol' turbo
