Walbro 450LPH Wiring & hookup

I have the Walbro 450 & install kit but I have a few questions on hooking it up

* Which of the black leads from the stock 2G fuel sending unit going to the pump is positive? Can we assume that on the Walbro side, the red is the positive? I could call Walbro for that one if need be.
* I drilled out the stock hard line for the fuel feed to install a -8AN bulkhead (Russell 670860 Fuel Cell Bulkhead Adapter Fitting) - my idea was to thread on a 3/8 barb to connect to the 450 with a hose. This caused fitment issues. Now I think it would be best to drill out the inside of the bulkhead connector (tank side) to 'press fit' the barb with rubber hose around it into the bulkhead connector. It's either that, or I'd have to buy a new (more shallow) bulkhead to barb fitting which I haven't had any luck finding in my initial search attempts, or find someone that will weld a non-bulkhead -8AN to barb in for me.

I'm sick of my garage smelling of gasoline, and additionally, I'm not sure its safe having an open gas tank!!

Thanks, the other issue I had was identifying which lead was positive with the in-tank wiring going to the fuel pump. Can anyone help with this?

When I installed mine it was backwards and the pump wwouldn't turn on. Not saying guessing is the best idea but it'll either run or not. I'll try to look back through pics and see if I can tell.

The bulkhead - I ended up drilling out the tank side of the fitting to press in the fuel pump barb with an E85 safe rubber hose on it. This should be a better seal than stock o-rings & what I really like about it is - no modifications to the 450LPH. I can swap to another pump easily if I want to & salvage the original pump in original condition (besides having a 2G AWD Mitsu connector now)

To figure which lead was positive inside the tank, I tested for continuity through the plug, then physically checked which connection went to ground, since there is only 2 the other must be power.

The only final assumption I made was that the red wire leading directly to the pump itself was the positive, black was negative. I staggered my solder connections so even in the event the heat shrink is corroded away there will not be electrical contact.
