VSV is ticking

I have two issues and I'm unsure if they're related.

1) my VSV was ticking. To make sure it was that I unplugged it and sure enough the ticking stopped. This seems simple enough to solve, just buy a new one right? Has anyone had that happen? If so did the new one fix it or was there an underlying problem that caused that?

2) The engine is stalling after a shift and when I push the clutch in. It's not stalling as if I didn't get the clutch all the way disengaged because it's not jumping at all. The RPM's just come all the way down and it stalls. If I put it in the next gear and get on the gas it will not stall either.

Just a quick background, since the rebuid the engine only has 2.5 miles on it so it could be a whole host of other things. All and all I'm very pleased with it though. It starts well, idles well and other then stalling it drives well.
It was rebuild and then sat for 2 years. I'm only now starting to get back to it.

There's nothing called a VSV in an Eclipse so we don't know what you're referring to.

Maybe there is another name for it but that's what I came up with by the part number. Full name vacuum switch valve. I found one on eBay with a picture

Is on the firewall drivers side.

looks like a purge valve, and when they tick, you know they're working.

It also looks like the EGR solenoid with the connector at the right angle.

Thanks, I guess I'll just leave it off for now. I do plan on deleting the emissions at some point anyway and it's not throwing a code.
Colt- it was ticking pretty bad. I know it's been 6 years since I've driven it but I don't think it was that load normally.

Any ideas on the stalling? It idles fine (after a good cleaning of the TB) and will rev fine in neutral, but when I take it on the road it'll stall when I get off the gas.
