What car/hood is that? Pretty sure it's not a 2g.

I'm looking to buy one but no one has the right picture which worries me about getting the right thing when I order.

I emailed a couple places, we'll see if I hear back.

This is the hood I'm looking for:

Isnt that a 2g with a VIS Hood with body kit or something? Possibly a 95 body kit?

The car in the picture is a 2nd gen Mazda MX6
Nice, good to know! Even VIS has that picture for the 2g eclipse on their site LOL That was probably posted wrong 12 years ago and never been fixed.

I'm gonna call a couple places on Monday and confirm they got the right one and get one ordered. Thanks!

And then a year or two later that pretty little carbon fiber look is faded and look like poop and you paid a grip. Not a fan only for that reason. The weight drop is nice but cant stand how these companies hoods go to crap after a year or two max.

I really like the hood you picked and I would love to order it but I am afraid that it will be crap just like the side skirts and rear bumper I have. There is no way to mount the side skirt to the vehicle .There is not one place to install the plastic body plugs to . The original side skirt has a lip that all the body plugs go into but this lip is missing on my aftermarket parts .I payed about $300. for the skirts and bumper and then $600 in shipping . I guess a body man could install these with a lot of work... I am an interior specialist ( Upholsterer ) ..... Body work ... NOT ...

My VIS hood is constructed very well and seems like a solid unit but I could take it back out of the box and drool on it again.
Is there anything any of you would like to see to confirm sturdiness or structural integrity?
I wish I had taken a picture of the underside (I was too busy googling over the top side) and can if anyone would like to see something specific. This is a 1ga hood.

Gorgeous!

Whats your definition of sooner or later ? I've never had an carbon fiber fade on any car I've ever owned .

You my friend are lucky. I don't know where you live but all my friends who bought carbon fiber goods in California didnt last more than 2 years. All have faded and have that crap look. So major props to you. If they didnt fade I would probably buy one. Even the possiblity of it fading stops me from buying one. But to each their own. To all of you that can maintain them, good job because it's not always easy

If it fades just wet sand and re-clear :thumb:

I live in CT. Are these cars just sitting outside all the time? I've had my evo for over 4 years now and the Carbon fiber on the spoiler is still mint. It came wingless. So I bought a beat up evo spoiler and the clear coat was all gone. Had it repainted and re cleared and its been totally fine for 4 yrs

My DSM sits outside with lots of carbon fiber parts including hood. I cover it so the sun doesn't damage the clear on it.

I think one thing, and key, is clear coating it @Evolving_sti. Good move on your part and was recommended by the man I bought mine from, but its been in its box all of its life, until soon.
Idk if they have much clear on them or any to begin with, care to share some info?

@GSXbooster has a very cool looking Red/Black ride and of course I am partial to that color scheme!

Because if the interest and the different styles, I'll try to "place" mine on my Red 90 Talon and get some pictures. The cars been down for 2+ years but should be a good look for me AND everyone else. We'll see what tomorrow brings :) :sneaky:

Thank you sir! I appreciate the kind words. I keep my car garaged so it's not outside all the time but I have daily drived it to and from work. I have no fading or damage to the clear coat. The clearcoat used to make mine is a high quality UV gelcoat.

I'm due for a little journal update but here is what it looks like currently...

Your car is so clean and beautiful.
I will need to put my "carbon fiber key lock hood pins" in and I'm sure the other's will need them too.
Can you give any hints/tips/tricks or video to help us out on those tricky cuts into a badass hood?.AND...was it re-gelcoated for you not part of the original hood???
Thanks for any help!
Marty
