Okay, this noise only happens at 5500rpm and higher. It has me worried that something is wrong. It is night and day, doesn't just fade in or out it's either there or not there. My cyclone activates around then I believe, not sure though because my laptop bricked. Car pulls hard around then too.

It almost sounds like it's coming from behind me, but I can't tell because it is SO LOUD.

I have a BSE, poly mounts and roll stops, on a fresh rebuild. BSE was done right, by a machine shop. HKS 264/272 cams. This is only 20 miles in on a break-in. Motoman break in was complete at 13 miles and oil was changed.

Anybody have a clue?

Cyclone is set at 5500? I would set cyclone at around 3200 or so. Above post sounds right on hitting target boost.

Wastegate fully opens. Its not an issue.
I thought this might be the case. Does it with the arm disconnected from the flapper too, though.

It's a pretty terrible noise. The video doesn't do it justice. Maybe I'm just not used to the BSE+Poly combo yet.

Notice that on decel the noise is very loud until 5500 again, where it quiets completely. If it were the wastegate it would have already been gone since I was pulling a lot of vacuum.

I will as soon as I pick up/borrow another laptop. I have no idea why I set it so high.

I'm still running conventional Valvoline 5w-30, I used Rotella T on my break-in. Should I still be running that since it's got a zinc additive?

Yes but its like max compressor effiency, so exhaust flow is at its highest. Thats around thee rpm the engine usually changes sound. Even free revving I can tell a difference in sound near same range.

You just put those cams in? I had to redo my exhaust because the cams (same as yours, HKS 264/272s) changed the note of my exhaust at similar RPMs and doing a 3rd gear pull (exactly like yours with overdrive off) would make my teeth rattle out my head. Had to get used to it. I run Avid mounts and have the BSE on my auto too.

No, they were in for a while.. I really never noticed this before the rebuild when I had the same mods except now I have a smaller turbo, BSE, and poly trans mount.

BTW Jimmy, thanks for the cyclone actuator (I think you sold it to me?) and your write up on installing the trans mount. Knowing to dremel that cone helped a lot.
