Ok so i posted the " no oil psi rattling...." thread and i made a video of it today. please excuse the poor quality due to the website made it pretty blurry hence that its off my blackberry. But i put a stethoscope to it and the rattling/knocking sounds from in the head. Any ideas? everyone else said rod bearings. but its a head rattle and not a lower block knock

sound like crank-walk its not the lifters, lifter noise is not that loud. one of your rod baring is coming lose its only a matter of time till the engine locks and you blow the block, happen to my first gst, had no clue what it was but now i do. the only solution is an engine built before you get a hole in your block or buy another engine. Best of Luck to you...

ok well when i took my oil pan off when i did the 100k mile tune up at 94k miles i noticed the bearings on all 4 rods moved back and forth. i didnt try to move the crank back and forth though. a few days before i changed all those parts i was getting on it and the engine died from over heating and now theres like no power in the engine at all. its pretty much a honda right now. still crankwalk? compression is good across the top. 185 180 180 185. headgasket is good. i found lots and lots of metal shavings in the oil pan though and the return spout? was clogged with them.

Drop your oil pan, sir.

I bet your bearing/rods/pistons are floating around in there.

Sounds like piston slap, blown rods-bearings.

420a's Do not crankwalk.

Your head would be fine, you can get by with a rebuilt to bottom end. On a budget, and do top end later.

But I would replace cams lifters/rockers valves springs/retainers. Rebuild top and bottom. This is just my opion and what I learned from N/t's

when i took the oil pan off and found this out it was when i changed all the belts water pump and oil pump. my dad was actually the one who noticed they move side to side. then i noticed all the shavings of metal. long shavings too about an inch long and others were like the size of cracked pepper if not bigger. it has all new pumps. i started it today with the valve cover off and it pumps oil but still get hot. the head looks pretty good. i really think its rod bearings since they move and it barely has any oil psi once it gets hot it goes to 0psi. do you think i could just buy some stock rod bearings, take the oil pan off and replace them like that or would i have to pull the engine to do so?

is there any possibility that it could be the timing being way off causing it to rattle. like i said the rattle sounds high up but it has barely any power. i have another video i took of it today sounding worse if anyone wants that one as well
