Oil psi gauge

not sure they really stand for a psi.

The stock gauges in cars usually are just indicators of high or low not a specific pressure. if you want to know a exact pressure take a aftermarket gauge and put it in your car or get a cheap gauge and put it on your motor.

there are a few places one can tap into the motor/head.

Just like the boost gauge they don't specify a certain pressure. Just lets you know it has oil pressure. As long as the light is off, and you don't have any noise you really have nothing to worry about.Only way to get that is to get an aftermarket electric or mechanical oil pressure gauge.

Did you really need to add oil? Was it indicated by the dipstick? Or did you add oil because it was the oil pressure gauge indicated "low" Pressure?

The dipstick was on the second(lower) notch so i added 1qt. I've been having oil problems ever since i changed to a thinner weight a few months back, and i was able to check it this morning before i left and added some.

thinner oil will sometimes have lower pressure due to it lower viscosity.it will depend on condition of engine i would change to a heavier oil and change it regularly.the high temperature that our cars see seems to take its toll on the oil.i change mine every 1500 miles oil is cheaper than an engine and most of my miles are 1/4 at a time.

The oil pressure was higher until i added 1qt of 15w 40 to the 10w30 it had in it. the lowest point at idle is in the middle of the last bar and the center bar, and cruising at 3500 it above the center line a little bit(like in the center of the oil can picture)
