I found out today I suffer from crankwalk:cry:. My story beings with a clicking sound coming from my timing belt:confused:. I look a the harmonic balancer it was bad so replace it and I decided to replace every thing on that side which includes the water pump, timing belt, balance belt, power steering belt, alternator belt and gaskets. I thought that would fix the clicking sound. After all that work I took it to my mechanic to verify every thing was done correctly, I don’t have a big ego. So, he put my car on the dyno and run a pull he notices some on the laptop (I have aem ems). I had a fuel cut because it was over boosting at 3000 rpm but I had it for a while(one more reason I took it to him). I had a bad wastegate but when I was idle it was losing crank position. He looked at me and told me the wastegate was bad :mad:then he pause looked at the car turned around toward me said you have crankwalk sorry . I was like wtf WTF. So, I need help building a 6 bolt. I plan to make 600-700 but being realistic minimum 500hp. Want to buy part that can handle power range. The questions are: parts need to achieve my power goal? Can I use the parts I replaced on the 7 bolt to the 6 bolt?(waterpump, timing belt.etc..)What is needed to swap 6bolt in to a 2g? 2.0L, 2.3L, or 2.4L? Will the transmission work on the 6 bolt?

Everything happens for a reason. I wont let it get me down I have to get back up build it stronger, faster, reliable. My journey begins with help from the DSM community helping me with my build.:D

Well i know everyone is going to say search the forums... I can tell you the tranny will work. I say go with malhe pistons and eagle rods. It is the lightest combo. My good freind swears by scat rods so eaither would do. Im going to build a 6 bolt soon and we had along conversation on the pros and cons of a stroker soo I decided on a 2.0 bored .020 over and 9:1 malhe pistons, scat rods, gates racing belt, b/s removal, Ill be running a hx 35 or h1c.

Someone weighed out the steel h-beam rods on here and figured out the manley's were the lighest set of h-beams. if 500 is all your looking for a set of h-beams or even stock 6 bolt big rods will do. Anything more look into a nice h-beam or if you really wanna over do it an I-beam would be able to handle the power your looking to make.

i want to buy all the parts and take it to RRE so they can put it together the right way. I want to keep it a 2.0L. Is there a specific engine block (year) that is the strongest? Is there a place where I can buy the block with all the machining done? What kind of bearing are the best to help prevent crankwalk?

im looking on getting:
eagle h rod and crank
wiseco or mahle 8.5:1

6 bolts are 6 bolts... not really a difference in strength

It sounds like you just want to build it and you haven't even checked to make sure thats what it is. How can your mechanic go from saying your WG is shot to saying you have crankwalk????

he changed the wastegate with one from another car.(same type wastegate) the car was regulation boost but he still saw the teeth on the crank where jumping on the laptop and it was causing it to back fire. i had to leave to work but they pull the oil pan off there was a little bit of play but i can drive the car for 6 month with slow speeds.
