Well, i am another victim of the infamous crankwalk. I am so pissed, i didn't even have the car for a year, and it goes and kills itself. It happened while driving home from work. So i take it to the auto place and they say it will cost $2500-2700 to get new parts and to put it into the car. But the best way they said was to get another engine, which will cost $3500. So right now i have to drive a rental car till my secondary gets fixed.
What should i do?...should i wait a while to save up money and get a loan for the rest?.. and buy the engine and have it installed; then keep the eclipse. OR should i still wait to get the engine and when i get it installed, drive the eclipse around till i pay off all my loans, then ditch it and get something more reliable?.. Because i cannot afford to pay to get my car fixed everyother month in the year.

oh yea...one more question...Would a 1g be more reliable (engine wise) since the engines are stronger? I don't know much about 1g's. I was also told that, in the 2g's, some engine parts are very cheap...that's why they crankwalk. I'm just curious if the 1g engine is more reliable than the 2g, and would it last if i were to drive it hard evey now and then? Also, would everything else on the 1g last longer than a 2g? THANKS

No..i have a 95 NT. but i'm pretty sure i did crankwalk it- from what i read. But the guy at the auto place said that the bearings were bad, and he started talking about the crankshaft. i believe i did, and when he told me that i should replace the engine it convinced me even more. I might be wrong about it crank walking..but i'd still have to pay for the new engine to get it to run right again.

If you crankwalked an N/T I offically love you. (not in a ### way)
[/joke]

You may not have walked you might just have had bad bearings from the start. Checkout the classifides for a N/T block because unless you damged the head all you will need is the shortblock.
www.dsmtrader.com would be a good place to look if you can find someone parting out an N/T or you can check out 2gnt.com because there always parting out n/t's over there. Just look around and personally the 2gnt block is a reliable block so I wouldn't hesitate to buy a used one or you can check out Howell automotive for a built block.
