1G Another crankwalk question...

I'm looking at a 93 TSI AWD thats a 5 speed, and is a 7 bolt. I know about crankwalk somewhat, but most stories I've heard are from people with 2gs. Is it less common with 1g's or what? Still the same chances? Thanks.

To my knowledge crankwalk victims are only on 2G's, I have never heard of anyone around here having a definate case of crankwalk

1G 7-bolts are less prone to walk than 2G 7-bolts, but any engine with a crank can crankwalk. It's not as big a problem with the 92-94's, but I have heard of them walking. Also, because they lack a crank angle sensor, it's less likely that a walking crank will be noticed/detected because the car will still start/run.

ANY engine can crankwalk, we had a ford 490 walk on us at work. I have heard 1G's can run with more play due to the lack of a crank angle sensor and run relativly fine.
