vibration/grind during hard acceleration

ok so last week I gave the car a good 2nd gear pull and flt a odd vibration. So I did it again ad i noticed a grinding sound and the vibration feels like it's coming from the rear of the car. during normal driving even 70+ it does not vibrate or jerk or slip or anything. It only does this when I give it a good hard pull. Also I found the little breather plug for the tansfer case sitting in the box my clutch came in, do you think it could have spun all the gear oil out of the transfer case? and the gears wore down enough to still gab but under load they slip?

I also noticd if I grab the driveshaft and push/ pull it, it moves back and forth about 1/2-3/4 inch

Have you checked the play of your u joints?? Also check carrier bearings...

the grind I think I hear might just be the driveshaft flopping around,
the U-joints are good, but the carrier bearings look kinda dry rotted.
The guy I got the driveshaft from said it had been taken off over a year ago, and had been sitting.
when you grab the driveshaft and tug on it, should you hear any noise? besides maybe rubber squeeking..

it's the transfer case, there are metal flakes in the gear oil..

The transfer case was fine, it was the Damn driveshaft.
I sold the car for $1000 and the guy fixed ot and sold it for like $3000.
Damnit.
