Well i just put in the clutch about a month ago(act2600).....ever since then i have notice like a vibration when i take off hard or if i let of the gas and let the gears slow me down. I read on another post about 1g haveing a hanger bearing issue. Could this be the case. what about u joints. I mean i would like to replace them reguardless but i cant find anyone who makes them. I work at autozone and when i look u joint up for my car or rear axels....it says not required  go figure. But what could be causeing this. tranny....axel....driveshaft....u joint. please help here this is my D/D so i need to find out before I cant drive it anymore. If you have this please post!!

Anyone ever have this problem....its pissing me off and it only seems to be gettin worse. Also I forgot to add that when i did the clutch I did the tranny..transfer case..and rear diff fluids. I used pennsoil sincromesh in all three. Is that ok for the rear??? I mean my buddy said yes but I still think it takes something thicker  any input here

Synchomesh should be ok. There are a few people on this site that do it without a problem. I think redgs is one of them. Others use redline shockproof, synthetic mobil 1 75-90 gear oil, or royal purple 75-90. If you're that curious, just drain it and replace it with something else. It's less than 2 qts. When you replaced your clutch, did you replace the throwout bearing as well?

And do not bump your own post. That is an azz-whupping waiting to happen.

Yes I did replace the throwout bearing. I used the oem that comes with the act. Oh yea not to be an ass but why is there a problem with adding stuff to my post if what I added gives you a better Idea of my problem. I can see your point if bumping is the intent....but I looked at my original post and it wasnt very informative, and added to it....easy cowboy, no azz-whoopin needed :( My mistake...but is there anything else that commonly causes this in 2gs???

My car 98 GSX does this as well, but it was after a run in with a crub. The shop never bothered to check and fix the read inner and outer axel joint. My inner joint is bad and viberating on accel. and decel. The only way I could see the prob. was to jack up the tire and move the wheel by hand while watching the inner joint.

Someone told me about something called backlash. Its when the gears in the trans have play and vibrate. This makes sence as It started doing this right after my clutch install. And I didnt have the clutch alighnment tool so i made one, It worked but it was a pita and took me about two hours to get the trans mounted  . Anyone have anymore input, I would like to get some opinions before I get new trans. All and any is appreciated :thumb: thanks guys

If I'm not mistaken Synchromesh is for DSM's. 1998 GSX is technically not a DSM because Mitsu/Chrysler split in 97 and 1998-99 Eclipses were made by Mitsubishi only. If I'm wrong here someone please correct me but from what I know we do not have the copper synchro's that Chrysler uses and you should not use the Synchromesh in a 98/99. Even if you look on the bottle it says for Chrysler/GM Copper Synchro's only. I used Royal Purple 75/90 and my little vibration I had before went away. Hope this helps. I would definetly switch and see if that's where your problem is. :thumb: If I'm wrong on this one then disregard everything I just said.

Hmmm I never knew that. I was thinking about changing to royal purple but everyone swears by synchromesh. Im gonna give it a try and see what happens. I dont know about the 98 and 99 not being dsms  Looks like us 98 and 99 guys cant stay here anymore

you didnt happen to snap any of the bolts or put in a other bolts that were a little longer than the other ones did you?????????what did you torque them to?.............might have over tighten one and it gave out when a load was put on it and it snapped might wanna check it out anything is possible i changed my clutch and busted a bolt and had a terrible vibration and to make a long screw short i ened up changin the flywheel

Well i know im gonna catch an ass whoopin here but actually when I got done, I had a bolt left over. I mean I looked everywhere to find out where it went, But couldnt find it to save my a$$ and I needed my car so I had to drive it. Ill see if I can post a picture of it maybe you guys could help me out. Let the flaming begin :p
