Vette versus Porsche, Laguna Seca

Crazy intense race. There is a huge discussion on rules and dirty tricks about this race on most Auto enthusist boards. I didn't see this vid or topic on this site so I'm posting it here. Well worth the 10 min to watch.

IIRC the ruling stands. Both the vette and porsche recieved some sort of penalty/fine equal to that of a slap on the wrist.

sick. i dunno why but i was rootin for the porsche from the beginning. i think every move was acceptable, when two people are going 110% i would expect nothing less then someone to pillage. that race is right up there with my favorite, rossi and stoner there.

Damn that was a intense race! I don't feel the Porshe was at fault in the end. The Vette bumped him in order to throw him off line, and the Porche just retaliated.

But great race non the less.

The Vette boys deserved what they got. I watched the race live with my girlfriend and this battle actually woke her up to watch the end with me.
I like the stupid pass the #4 Vette made on the LMP car after that restart, took out some innocent cars.

I dont blame him one bit. He pushed him towards the wall giving the vette boy nothing and the vette then tried to cut in front of the porsche and didn't have enough room.

Agreed, I mean that's going a little overboard... not sure what the official rules are on any of this stuff though.

Alot of debate as to whether the Vette even hit the wall. There is a youtube link somewhere showing a slow-mo replay. I'm all in for aggressive racing. It brings the level of competition to a new level. Although the line has to be drawn somewhere. Someone could have been badly injured or worse.

the vette would of only hit the wall if he didn't hit the brakes. then he cuts the porsche off clipping the front end of the car and hits the wall.

The porsche basically pushed him towards the wall forcing him to either hit the brakes or the wall and it was his choice.

All the vettes fault after bumping him at the turn then went to the inside when there was clearly no room. Just good blocking by the porsche.

I'm pretty sure I see the porsche sqeeze the other car to the wall while they are damn near side by side, then when the vette comes ahead the the porsche digs into him a little more.... I in know way see the vette cutting him off, and why the hell would he when he ahead of him and pulling away.

He's talking about the last turn ^ I think it was a good aggressive move by the corvette, but was just out-moved by the porsche in the end. If he didn't want to play the shove game, he shouldn't have started it and went inside.

I watched the race from all over the track.
I was in the Grand Stands when Magnussen hit the wall, what a trip.
Then I got to watch it on Speed TV the very next day.
I've been going to all of the ALMS races at Laguna Seca since 06'.
2010 the race at Laguna will be on May 22nd, I so can't wait.

Bergmeister is a ###el!

The vette did not intentionally bump the Porche from behind, the Porche brake checked the Vette.
Plus if Magnussen wanted to make Bermeister spin, he would have waited another second when Bergmeister was turning into the corner.
They were still going straight when Mag accidentally bumper Berg from behind.
***EDIT*** After watching it again, it appeared Mag did bump him while they were turning in. Regardless though, Berg did not have to wreck the Vette.***EDIT***

Bergmeister was scared and he himself said adrenaline got the best of him.
He pinched Mag into the wall which was chicken sh!t.
Mag clearly had the faster car, or else Berg wouldn't have hit Mag in the rear quarter panel making him spin dangerously into the wall head-on at well over 100mph.

You wait, 2010 will be the year of the Vette in GT2.

The Vettes were still running the GT1 engine in all of the GT2 races with a restrictor plate in the induction system.
Next year the Vette will have a new engine that will walk all over the competition, you watch!

The porsche was driving very well. He was slower for sure but he never switched sides when he blocked. Vette bumped him at the end, intentional or not. The vette went on the inside and so did the porsche. Porsche was ahead and stayed on same line. Vette should have backed off. He didnt, he hit the wall. Could have been worse. Glad to see he is okay.
