Edmonton,
i just got a Forge Motorsport (UK) dual-piston BOV that allows you to vent to atmosphere without the aid of an MAFT or stand alone. I didn't really believe it until I tried it, but it works! No rpm drop below normal idle, or rich hesitating. Just thought I'd pass it along to anyone who wants the sound of a venting bov without the stumble and stalling of trying to vent the stock bov.

here's a video, but it doesn't do the sound justice.. it sounds a lot cooler than my digi cam's mic can pick up.

it comes with a plug that blocks off your re-circ hose, and has a high rate spring that only allows a small amount of air to escape, but still creates the PSHH sound.
i got mine from Fulblown Motorsports in Canada: (for 1g and 2g):

it does still lose a small amount of air not accounted for, but the rich condition between shifts is much less than venting the stock BOV.

People vent there BOV all the time and have no noticeble issues. Pure and simple if you are venting a BOV without a MAF-T your only hurting yourself. You are giving people misinformation.

The proper way to vent is with a MAF and MAFT. There's a difference between a driver seeing no noticeble issues and the ECU seeing no issues.

beatshack - Do you have a log of before venting and after venting (without MAFT)?

so umm, how does the forge bov compensate for the missing air that the ecu already accounts for?

I would also like to be enlightened as to how the bov communicates with the ECU?

As has been said already, just because you can't notice it doesn't mean the car doesn't.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Listen to this guy ^^^

And just think, for the $275 you spent on that BOV you could have gotten a GM MAF and Translator :toobad:

I would seriously get rid of that as you are defeating the purpose of a BOV (to relieve intake pressure quickly). I would honestly rather see you venting a stock BOV than running the one that only blows off little amounts of air.

Thats about as bad as these valves that you can adjust how much air gets recirculated and how much gets vented.

And look, that one is only the cost of a Translator
