I am having the worst of time getting my new evo 8 S&R kit in I got the stock 2g valve out with very minimal effort using hammer method and just pressing down until the keepers fell out.

Now trying to get them back in has almost ended in me throwing the head out the window twice.

Methods I have tried that have failed/ only got one keeper in straight and the other either falling out or landing in crooked.

2 different over head valve tools
press down with a socket and slide the locks in threw a hole I cut
use big c-clamp and do the same above
putting it all on and pushing down with socket

None have worked! after 5 hrs and getting none of them on I am getting a bit pissed! any help would greatly be appreciated!

ps. I don't have the time to wait for a special tool to come in the motor has to be re assembled and put in by Friday! And no local parts store has what I need,

The C clamp is going to be you best bet.

Grab some thick greese, wheel bearing and a small flathead screw driver.

make sure the groove in the valve that the keper its in has greese in it. Next with a small dab of greese in the tip of the screw driver pick up the keeper and place n the keeper groove of the valve.

The greese will hold the keeper in place so you can release the clamp

Look thu this thread and you will be better able to see what I am explaining.
