Right. Did you do a timing belt change lately? If so looks like you need to redo it.

To check your timing quickly put the motor at TDC and look at the cam gears to see if the marks are lined up.

ok mine is at 10 also...how long should this be fixed....like should i have done it within a week or so...or could i go say...7 months? i just hope there is no long term damage...any help will help

Also, if the motor is completly shot, you will get low vacuum. Do a compression test and see.

Will cams alter vacuum also? My motor is almost shot and I still had good compression, 180 accross the board, it was cold as shyt too, so that would make it lower.

Burnt valves, worn rings will give you motor low vac. But all of those things will give you low compression results, which you obiously don't have. So start looking at other possiblities.

Edit: The motor is far from being "shot" at 180 compression across the board.

hrm, that means that I have a problem as well. -10 at idle, just changed timing belt 4k miles ago, compression check came out ok. Turbo still seems to boost ok.......

Well, I took it apart and i have the worse piston slap i've ever heard of. I can move the piston back and forth with my finger with little effort. All you hear when the car runs is 4 distinct clunking sounds. When you rev it a little it sounds like metal on metal pinging. My cyl. walls are scoured too from the piston slap. I dont know how i even had compression. :barf:

anybody know what the vacuum should read on my car.....look in vehicle profile for specifics in mmHg........need this info ASAP....please help!

thks
