vac/boost readings

I installed a boost/vac gauge last month and ever since then I have heard a humming sound coming from the gauge cluster and my vac/readings are inconsistent.(ex.20in,then 18in).I think I have a leak at the gauge but can anyone tell me if thats whats wrong?If so what are your readings at idle and when you press in the clutch?

first of all is this a different car than the 12 sec 16g car in your post? a boost gauge at this point seems strange if so.

My car idles at about 18-20 but it also depends on the load on the engine. When you have the a/c on it will idle higher (18ish). when you push in the clutch and the car is winding down, it will be more like 30.
