I was bored so I thought I would look through the Newb section for poor souls lost to help them become dsmers just like people helped me do and thought so many guys complain they searched and couldn't find anything. I thought maybe a couple key things to help limit the endless post you would have to read with to vague searches would help
1: Just in case you don't know where the search engine link is right underneath the banners at the top of the page you're on (yes no matter which page you're on it's there) there are a bunch of links.
Tech Parts Regional Forums SEARCH Blogs Classifieds...........
Needless to say which on you want to click. After you do a drop down of option swill come up you want to search forums.
2: You can actually have very vague(sometimes actually good like say you want to see info on a HUGE subject that you know nothing about) or very specific (Like what psi stock fuel pressure is for a 2g awd is) searches. Search by keyword is the main style of search you will use as you put in here KEY words not sentences like "What is the best turbo". The other type is search by name which would be like ok Twick is the man when it comes to stroker and big hp knowledge so I'm gonna search through his posts.
3: You can limit the results to show only threads that have x amount of pages or between a certain date like say if you know that say what your looking for is all new stuff that just came out no need reading post from 2004. You can even have it list the results by post not forum(I don't recommend this but you can do it)
4: SEARCH IN FORUM!!! This is one of the key things that you need to get the hang of which will save you CRAZY amounts of time and a low you to find what you want when you want it. If your looking for info on say the new HTA tech turbos you would scroll down the list and highlight"4g63 DSM Tech" and "turbo system tech". This part is kinda something you use common sense with a combination of knowing where stuff USUALLY is. Like if someone tells you "Dam rookie everyone knows about dsmlink for the 1g's" and you're so new you have no idea what dsmlink or 1g's means then you might not know that that would probably be under "4g63 DSM Tech" and "Tuning & Engine management". I keep saying and but you can really just click say "Turbo System Tech" because it's a sub forums category of "4g63 DSM Tech". Or if you feel like it you can hold "ctrl" and click multiple forum categories but the more you click the more broad thus the more results you get meaning you will have to read through more stuff to find what you want so getting as close to one forums category as possible while being on the right track is the goal. You can search through just titles or search through the entire thread/posts for what you want. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALWAYS PUTTING ENTIRE POST because the first sentence of a person's opening thread post is usually about the title.
5: KNOWING DSM TERMINOLOGY!!!!! This is the most important things when searching. Even more important than knowing where to search is knowing what to look for. If someone called you out for not searching and said there is a whole thread about say ebay intercoolers and you put in "ebay intercoolers" in the search do all the good stuff you're supposed to you will get stuff that is about ebay and about intercoolers which is ok but if you would have put in ebay fmic(front mount intercooler) you probably would have found what you wanted a lot faster. There is a list of just about every acronym that you will see in the dsm world at VFAQ.com
Hope that helps at least a little
