Using a n/t 4g63 oil pan in a turbo 4g63

Same stamping, as long as you put a 6 bolt pan on a 6 bolt, and a 7 bolt pan on a 7 bolt. The indent where the oil return belongs is present on the N/A pans too. If you plan to use a stock oil return, you'll want to weld a little flange to the inside of the pan with two threaded holes and the actual return hole in the middle, but you could always weld in an -an style fitting or whatever does the job.

how can i tell if i have a 7 bolt pan or a 6 bolt pan?

Seems like your car most likely has a 7 bolt engine since it's a 97. When you buy a pan, get one for a seven bolt 4G63. It will be obvious by the shape of the end rail under the oil pump. The pans are shaped differently there.

yeah i accidently bought a 4g63 n/t oil pan before. Now im going to buy the right one. I HATE MESSING UP. I have no knowledge in welding and it seems to difficult to convert the n/t into a turbo oil pan so screw it.

Yeah if you don't work with metal, it would certainly be easier to just buy the part that fits.

I'm not much into paperwork, and I really hate it when I buy the 8-10 cup automatic drip coffee filters when my coffee maker takes the 4-6 cup filters. There's just all that extra material.

yeah it sucks im holding on to a friggen giant oil pan and i cant even sell it because DSM's are so rare where i live...

The 6 bolt pans are flat all the way around and the 7 bolt has a curved dip out of the mounting flange on the oil pump side.

Sure you can sell it! Ebay since you don't have enough tech posts on here.
If you have a local machine shop they could weld it for you. All you would need is a block of metal with 3 holes drilled in it. I bet you could get someone on here to make one for you and probably be able to send it in an envelope cheap enough. Or you can look for someone putting in an HX40 or something similar that needs a larger oil drain then that pan would be perfect. All they would have to do is drill one hole and weld a AN bung on it.
