Resolved Upper Radiator Hose Split

A while back maybe a year ago, my upper radiator hose made a small split right where it connects to the radiator just before the clamp. It sprayed coolant everywhere and almost overheated. It was close enough to the clamp that i was able to just cut an inch off the hose and pull it tighter to the radiator and clamp it back down, problem solved right?... Well, it just happened AGAIN last night.

Is there a degradation problem with the stock rubber hose? Do i have too much pressure being built up?

I bought a rubber replacement but im wondering if silicone might actually be better?

Assuming it's the original hose then its just normal for a 20 year old car. Silicone is technically a better material but rubber will do just fine

ur hose is rotted ...while ur at it might as well replace all rad hoses as they will be in the same condition ...no sense waiting for them to fail

i did a 6 bolt swap so my lower hose is new. What other hoses should i consider replacing?

Pretty cheap kit and I believe it will replace all the coolant hoses ect... I don't have it personally but I believe a lot of guys on here are running kits like these. They have different colors too..

That's what I did. Kit was excellent. When available I do these ebay hose kits on all of my older vehicles

It's probably just the hose being worn out. Replace all your radiator hoses, thermostat and fresh coolant at minimum. Also remember to inspect the surface of the radiator outlets for damage and clean them well before reinstallation. Sometimes the outlets can be cracked if they're plastic or corroded badly if they're metal to prevent the hose from sealing correctly and remember to not over-tighten the clamps, which can cause leaking issues after installation as well.
