ok i got the tranny in and everything is done except it cant get the upper ball joint nuts to tighten with out spinning the stud. Bots shides, there is hardly any play in them at all. I have tried getting it to seat as far as i can in the steering knuckle, with pry bars etc, but i vant get it to be far enough down for the taper to hold it.

If its on jacks stands, then place a stand, block whatever under the lower control arm this way the knuckle doesn't move down when you pry on it. Have someone pry down on the upper control arm while you tighten.

Or you could put a wood block between the upper control arm and the fender well, and jack up the lower control arm very carefully.

Impact guns will make this easier.

If it's what I think your talking about I usually use a vise grip to hold it then tighten it as much as I can before I take it out. Right now mines are not all the way tucked in and I've been driving for hundreds of miles with no problem. but of course that's not the peace of mind I was looking for. I check it here and there and all seems fine.
