In this post ive went from my bov blocked off to why its not reving up past 3k. Read the post to see whats going on.

Heres my update

I did a compression test and came back good.
Did a smoke test instead of a boost test for now until i get my tester and got smoke out of my throttle cable plate opener and closer (cant think of the name at the moment) its comming out of a rectangle hole on that bracket for the plate and also plugs were black on the tips so i was told it was running rich. And also got smoke out of the exhaust manifold were there is a snapped bolt in the head. So would any of this be the reason why its not reving past 3k.

That sounds about right, depending on how bad that throttle body leak is, and if you have any other leaks the smoke didn't show. Where it's leaking in the throttle body would be your throttle shaft seals. That would cause the rich running, because when/if you build boost the pressurized air is escaping through that leak and less air gets to your cylinders than the ECU "thinks." And if you're losing enough air, the mixture will be so far off it won't build revs.

Conclusion: rebuild the throttle body, get a proper boost leak test, and go from there.

I have a extra throttle body so ill put that on or see if i can use the parts from the spare. My turbo has a little shaft play so could this also be a problem?

A small amount of shaft play won't be catastrophic, if you're not burning oil don't lose sleep over it. I didn't quite understand what you said about unplugging the MAF, you mean the idle doesn't change when you unplug it?

I was told that if i unplug my maf and it runs better that means its bad but when i unplug it gets worse. So why do i have to change it.

Exactly. Don't worry about it then.

I would swap to the other throttle-body if it is fine. I wouldn't change any internals, but again I don't rebuild stuff.

A boost leak will hinder you from revving high.

Also, did you reset the ecu after recirculating the bov? Our Ecu's learn certain things to compensate.. So it its going to need to relearn fuel trims & airflow.

I just put on my different body on and it leaks at the same spot again.

How do i reset it, i need a tuner dont i. And how do i know if its been resirculated?

I would go to your parts store and get this.
  • CRC Mass airflow cleaner
  • 2 TB gaskets
  • RTV Ultra Copper (high temp) silicone
  • Dielectric Grease
  • Throttle Body cleaner or Carb & choke cleaner

Here are the TB shaft seals since the parts store people will look at you funny if you ask them for them.

What MAF do you have?
Do you have DSMLINK?
EDIT: why do you not have a BLT? you can make one for like $20-$30 depending on what tools you have.

Ya, give it a few squirts and make sure you get the filament in the middle. What ever you do DO NOT get it on the PLASTIC, or try not to at least.

Fix your boost leaks.

Reset your ecu(pull the bat cables for 15-20mins)

Should be good at that point. Or narrowed down at least :thumb:

Ok thanks. And i will get the stuff tomarrow. And i will go to your thread and reply.

Lost track of this thread.. Hopefully it's not too late, but it's been covered a few times that regular parts store "MAF cleaner" is not good for our MAFs. Most cars use a heated filament, where ours use a Karman Vortex design and those cleaners can damage the sensor. It's recommended to use "electronics cleaner" designed for cleaning harness connectors and the such. Most of the MAF cleaner branded cans will have a warning on them that they aren't safe for Karman Vortex MAFs.

OK, I'm waiting for my tester to come in because i tryed to make one myself but the pieces i need my stores don't have.

So i was looking round my engine for anything unplugged and found these. Where do these go or are the just there for other options.

This ones near my maf.

First - boost control solenoid.
Second - air conditioning compressor magnetic clutch.
Third - cruise control vacuum pump.

None of which are related to your issue.

OK. I just boost leak tested my car and my throttle body shaft seals are leaking, so i ordered a rebuild kit from a guy on here, so after this hopefully i can take off the bov block off. I will update when i get the rebuild kit.

If fixing those small boost leaks don't solve your problem, then I would look into your ecu. When I got my car it wouldn't rev past 3k and ran really rich. Ran every test I knew on the car and everything was good. So I pulled the ecu and sent it out to ecmtuning. They went over it, cleaned it, and put in new caps. Put it back in the car and that fixed the issue. You can not just go off a visual inspection when it comes to electronics. Get it tested by guys who know what there doing, like ecmtuning.
