Probably the cruise control shutoff switch.

You are correct my friend!

you can also take the two wires and splice them together to have the cruise work. But remember that the cruise will NOT shut off when you step on the clutch.

hmmm that is what i thought too. However the cruise still works and I still have to press in the clutch to get her to start. Well i guess off to the local parts store to see which one it is thanks for the help guys.

The cruise shuts off when that circuit is closed by the switch. If you want cruise control, do not wire them together. The brake also shuts off the cruise, if you're too dim to use the trigger on the steering wheel.

Neither the CC nor clutch lockout will throw a CEL. That CEL is from something else getting effed up.

My cruise control would not come on if the clutch switch was disconnected, after reconnecting the plug it worked fine again... so, if you want your cruise, connect the plug to the switch or bridge it with a wire. I'm using my clutch switch for prototype launch control :shhh:

I disconnected the clutch safety switch in my Eclipse, also, to relieve some stress on the crank when I cold start it in the morning. The day I disconnected it, I had a harmonic balancer pop loose. The CEL was on, notifying me of the problem.

I fixed the balancer. I reset the CEL, as the code was completed and it wasn't turning off.

Now, my CEL has been turning on and off sporadically for the past 3 weeks, and every code it lists, is [Completed]. I've had no problems, it runs great, nothing out of the ordinary.

Other than this bastard CEL.

I would be tempted to say that disabling the clutch safety switch has something to do with the CEL in some circumstances. I'll investigate this more soon, it's just irritating to look at the dash and see a big ugly orange yellow light on it.
