i looked around but couldn't find anything on this......i just installed a boost controller and i didn't need the stock bc solenoid because i had the one from the new bc, so i unplugged it.......is it ok that's it's unplugged and taken out? it's not doing anything....just want to make sure :rocks:

Defiant is right. Leave the electrical portion of the BCS connected. I made this mistake when I installed my MBC.

hmmm, I have not ran it for a year and havn't thrown an ECU code yet. But, listen to the experts...thats what they are here for.

Perhaps that has something to do with you running a 1G and the poster having a 2G. There are lots of details that are different between the 2 generations.

That's because you have a 1G.

edit : Damn you steve. :)

Dealership thrashed my BCS along time ago. Plug just kinda dangles in the air unplugged. No code for me. I run the codes on my car (regardless of CEL) once a month. It's a hit and miss kind of thing from what I've seen.

I made the mistake of removing mine and leaving at an ex's house in PA. I would like to insert a resistor, but being as I dont have mine anymore I cant do this unless someone can measure the resistance in theirs for me(2gb) :thumb: any other suggestions? the CEL is annoying and I wont know if I might be throwing other codes as well...

I just did some searching and found some Resistor values for others that may need it!

Double check the value and my math but assuming the BCS coil resistance is 38 ohms you'll need at least a 5 watt resistor. I = E/R W= I^2R
I = 14v/38ohms = 0.37A W = (0.37A)^2 * 38 ohms = 5.2W

^ Thanks Steve! :thumb:

The 2G FSM says the BSC coil resistance should be within 36 to 44 ohms at 20C. The closest 5W resistor you'll find at RadioShack is 50 ohms which might work. There are several standard values in that range so a better electronics supply house should have some other choices.
