Unknown sound please help

I have a 97 gst eclipse and I have a unknown sound that I need some help finding. It all of a sudden it started making this noise today when I started it up. The noise is coming from where the belt pulleys are on the drivers side. The noise sounds like a rocking/knocking sound, like as if the pulley/belt plastic cover was tapping on of the pulleys or something, but I checked for that and this isnt the case. It makes the sound for a few seconds then goes away for afew mins and comes back again and does this for as long as the cars been running. Please let me know of anything that could be causeing this to make this sound. THANKS.
