Hey everyone, I'm a new member to this site (though I've been using the forums for research for the past year...). Anyways, I got myself a problem with my '92 n/t Talon. I'll provide a little background:

I got the car last year in March or so, had lotsa problems with it initially (previous owner was a hack). Finally, last November I got around to changing a seized rear caliper and went to bleed the brakes only to find every single bleeder screw had been sheared off of every caliper (like I said, hack). Imagine my disdain! Long story short, I got frustrated and the car's been sitting for about 7 months.

Recently, I obtained new calipers, rotors, pads, the works... after giving the car an oil makeover, I installed the brakes, went out for a test drive and found the car making a very unusual noise. It sounds kind of like belt squeal but I don't think it is. I researched this topic EXTENSIVELY before posting this, so this is what I've done so far:

Changed all accessory belts - no difference.
Removed entire drive belt assembly, checked (changed where necessary) all pulleys, tensioners, etc. - no difference.
Adjusted tension on my alt. belt (this one seems to be popular) - no difference.
Drove the car without accessory belts - no difference.

I shift into first, I get a squeal for like 2 seconds as I'm letting the clutch out; same thing in second. Beyond second, everything's fine. It sounds to me as though the sound I'm describing is coming from the passenger side but I could be wrong.
Ultimately, any additional advice would be helpful.

Thanks a lot guys and gals, and sorry for the long post.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that the car was NOT doing this prior to letting it sit for several months.

Hmm... not exactly. I can sit in neutral and rev the engine up high without any squeal. I can also reverse without any squeal. It's just when I let the clutch out while shifting into first or second that I get a squeal (sounds like the tires are spinning, but they're not). Does that help at all?

Quick update:

Belt dressing didn't work, had a friend over today and let him drive it back and forth in my driveway while I stayed under the hood... sound is definitely coming from the tranny. I can hear it clearly and even feel it when I put my hand on it while being driven. I dropped the fluid, put new stuff in, didn't help.
So, the tranny is coming out. Thanks for your suggestions guys, I'll keep you updated.
