Edmonton,
I want to go with the MAFT and GM MAF setup. I've been doing lots of reading on here and found out almost everything that I need to know except for the UICP. How can I check if the one I have right now will work, can it be modified to work, or is this a mandatory replacement when doing this particular mod? I'm doing this so I can vent as well as the other benefits.

If you're going to set the GM MAF as a blow-through configuration then, seeing as how that MAF is a rather large diameter, nowhere near the size of your stock UICP, you're going to have to consider a way to adapt it down to fit between your TB elbow and BOV. You might be able to cut up and use portions of bends from your stock UICP, but eventually you're going to need to connect to reducers of some sort to the the new MAF in there.

The car had a GReddy FMIC installed when I bought the car so I'm not sure what size the UICP is(I've never paid attention) I'm gonna take a look. If its 3" then is it possibly usable for this application?

Check out dejontool. They have uicp that are designed specifically for the gm maf. That seems to be the best way, although I have seen people modify their current pipe to work for the gm maf. However, the last person that I saw "customize" his uicp had major leaks around the maf because he did a crappy job.

I just took a look at what I have for a UICP. It's a 3" diameter rubber hose. I don't know if this is the stock hose/pipe. Would it be possible to keep this hose and have the setup as follows:

BOV -> GM MAF -> THROTTLE BODY

Or does it have to be:

GM MAF -> BOV -> THROTTLE BODY

Because if I can go with the first layout, then I could cheap out and not buy a fancy UICP pipe

Nice that you have a 3" UICP already. :thumb:

If you're going to make it a blow-thru, then it must be:

BOV -> MAF -> TB

If it's a draw-thru (pre-turbo) then you just need to make sure the BPV vents back into the intake after the MAF. Although I thought I read somewhere about being able to compensate for atmopsheric venting with the translator no matter where it's located. You should check out the documentation on the translator for sure though.

i have brand new dejon tool chrome maf-t uicp flanged for hks bov and 3" blow thru intake pipe and filter, all brand new never used that im willing to sell cheaply. it would probably cost a lot to get it to canada tho.

You can only vent if the MAF is between the bov and the throttle. If the MAF is in front of the bov, then you have to recirculate.

If you have a hard pipe, then all you need is a hacksaw, silicone couplers, and some t-bolt clamps. Follow the instructions here

Sweet, I think I can get away with this then! I don't have a hard pipe yet, and I will get one in the future when time/money permits, but right now I basically have the restricted plastic pipe which goes under the fuse box with the BOV and a flange adapter for an APEXi BOV, then after that plastic pipe ends it turns into a 3" rubber(braded looking) hose all the way to the throttle body. If I can just cut the hose and get some couplers for the MAF then I should be in business I hope!

This isnt my car but it has the same upper hose that I am talking about. I have circled it and have an arrow pointed to it. What do you guys think? Can I get away with putting the new GM MAF in this location?

i have the same setup right there, except for that enormous recirc pipe you got there.

im also interested in what I would need to fab this up. when i decide to get clever and take some measurements and find out where to get the parts, ill let you know.

if someone else has any input that would be appriciated.

edit...
just noticed you have an RFL recirculated. rofl. awesome. i bet you cant wait to get that sucker vented.

Hey Jive, thats not my car dude ROFL. I borrowed the pic from another member on the board, http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=182340&highlight=rfl+recirculated
I have to try to get this MAF setup done soon, my car is running so rich I cant even stand the smell when it boosts anymore.
