Drain the oil, switch the filter and put synthetic in. Its just better. I like Mobil 1.

40w10, no no no. Just do a oil change and use mobil 1. Get the 10w-30 , it has a green cap on the bottle.

Most people will recommend synthetic oil but few of them can give any reason why. If you change your oil close to the OEM's suggested interval (usually around 3,000 miles) there is absolutely no reason to use synthetic, unless you have money to burn or run the oil out to 6,000 + miles. This holds true for turbocharged or n/a engines. The OEM's recommendations are built around conventional oil formulations and have at least a 2x safety factor built in to them.
Synthetic oils are best suited for high-heat applications for extended durations so unless you're running your engine at max load for extended periods, like 30 minutes plus (often), a conventional oil will be all you need. If you change your oil more often, you're just wasting money.
All oils, synthetic or mineral based, use the same additive package which includes the viscosity modifier (ZDDP). Some manufacturers use better add-packs than others. Valvoline and Mobil are at the top of the heap, and Quaker State is at the bottom (avoid it if you can.)
If you change your oil often, one way to tell if you're doing the right thing is to get a periodic oil analysis. After each oil change, take a sample to a local diesel shop, like a Cummins or Caterpillar dealer and have them "burn" it. You'll also need a baseline sample (an unused sample of your oil of choice) to compare it to. Most people will be surprised at the results and the smart ones will consider running their oil a bit longer than is suggested.
If you sample your oil, the oil will tell you what it wants, and it never lies...
