I misread torque figures on a bolt that goes on the tensioner arm (the piece that holds the tensioner pulley to the right of the water pump with a bolt and large washer) and accidently broke it off. It's 12mm and could be a real pain in the ass to get out. Any advice? I need to know how to get another bolt to replace it but don't know how. What do I ask for when I call Mitsubishi? Man I'm stupid, can't believe I would even TRY to apply 400 lbs/in of torque to that thing!

Might as well bite the bullet & unbolt that entire Engine Mount Bracket / Tensioner Foundation from the Motor. I don't see even a small 90 degree Drill Motor getting in there - & Frankly I can't believe you put 400 whatever on that Bolt either! OMG

Yeah I know it was freaking retarded. It never even occurred to me until it snapped. It shouldn't be that hard to get out once it is accessible, therein lies the problem. So to get this thing out can I leave the trans bolted up? What do I need to keep the engine at a good enough angle to get at the bolt? I already have one motor mount off the timing belt side. What should I ask for at mitsubishi to get a replacement?

*Update*

Alright, part numbers:

MD129421 - Tensioner Bracket Washer
MF241251 - Tensioner Bracket Bolt

The car is going to be sitting yet ANOTHER week. I realize trying to get the engine at an angle to get a bolt out is the equivalent of turning a house to change a lightbulb. If I unbolt the engine mount bracket will that piece come out? Thanks for the help Buck, it's very much appreciated. :talon:

Alright, got the stripped bolt out (it wasn't too tough at all). Now that I'm putting that engine mount bracket back on I'm leafing through the service manual and haynes manual trying to figure out what they're calling this piece and what the torque specs are for each. I guess it isn't that important but I don't want to overtorque these since they go into the engine block- that would be a disaster

Mine says "TSB Revision" at the bottom of the page of the overhaul manual I'm looking at. I show the following:

Tensioner Arm Bolt 16ft/lbs.
Engine Support Bracket 33ft/lbs.

This is from one of the Manual CD's I bought on eBay. I should have no more problems putting this sucker together. :crosses fingers:
