ok so this is what i got posted before but didnt find a answer. i had a 95 tsi fwd in feb it got wrecked so i bout a 96 tsi fwd roller and installed motor and trans. sine i put the motor in i havnt got fuel or spark. the motor ran in the wrecked car when i pulled it cause i drove the car into the garage. there was wires cut at ecu and a nest like someone had a remote start or something hooked up since they didnt go anywhere i took the nest out and wired it correctly back up no help. took the cam and crank sensor out and changed them cam sensor was real dirty and crank sensor had a crack in it, still nothing. it turns over but doesnt fire. i retimed it still nothing. bought a new fuel pump relay and mpi relay since they are on a bracket together still nothin. swap the ecu out with the one from the 95 still nothing. i was checkin the cam and coil wire harness to make sure i had them right still not sure but i had the key on and i flipped the coils over and they arced off the intake so they have to have power but no fuel or spark still can anyone help me. this has been a longer project than it should of and i cant figure it out.and someone told me a dsm when turning over that the rpm gauge should move which doesnt and they said mean crank sensor is bad. is this true. and when i turn the key on the on pos there is no cel light can that lead to something else besides that the new crank sensor is bad?

Do you have a Fuel pressure guage on the car to see if in fact you are not getting fuel. Also recheck all the fuses one could have shitted out on you when your were messing around in there.

So when the key is in the on position the CEl doesn't come on at all? I believe its suppose to come on for 5 seconds to indicate its working. If it doesn't come on at all, then the bulb might be bad or the PO unhooked it. Did you put new gas in?

Check your fuses, the fuse in the engine bay (Motor fuse) mainly. Should be a 20A fuse if I remember correctly.

cel doesnt come on at all i swapped it out with the anit lock and brake bulb to see if it was burnt out still didnt come on getting ready to go down stairs and put another ground wire on to make sure that isnt it and check some fuses again what is the po you are talkin about
also there is gas in the car i unhooked the fuel pump since no fuel pressure gauge and there wasnt fuel in the line or cylinder but when i jump the pump to a 12v it kicks on the fuel pump relay and the one right next to it doesnt click when the key is on either

can anyone tell me where the ignition control mod is on my car or pt

When i had a similar problem it was what they called a power transistor. The difference is i was getting fuel, i just didnt have any spark. Its located at the top of your motor by your fuel rail. it will have a plug for it coming off your harness and im pretty sure it mounts on the intake manifold. Mine is just handing and i dont have a stock bracket or i would tell you for sure. Hope this helps.

Ok so last night i went and checked fuses again and the engine fuse was blown. I replaced the engine fuse. Now I got fuel pump relay kicking on and the cel is coming on. But when we hooked the scan tool to it because of no start still theres no reading or codes. The scanner kept saying to make sure the key is open or on the on position which it was but it couldnt read the computer. Im now thinking since my relays are working that the wires they had spliced into the ecu harness for god knows what have now shorted or messed up my wiring harness. I did hook them back up the way they were suppose to. So i guess my next question is does anyone know where i can either buy new harness for my car, or does anyone know someone that can rebuild my harness i got now so that there isnt any shorts or loss of connection.
