alright guys my car did somthing weird today that ive never seen before,i was driving my caR for about 5 min and i got on it about 3/4 throttle in 2nd gear and the rpm gauge dropped down to 0, evrything else was till working, the engine was still running but if i gave it any throttle it seemed like it was trying to go somewhere but it wasnt, i took it out of gear into neutral and the car dies, i try starting it back up, nothing. the car turns over but it doesnt start, the timing belt is good ,fuses are good, nothing leaking, im not sure if its a fuel problem or a compression problem, any help would be appreciated

Where would I find the ignitor?

It should be on the right side of the intake manifold (opposite of the throttle body) and inside of it.. Just look where ant the plug wires and see where they go. That box that have the plugs in is the transisto.

nyk4life, you should check for spark first to verify what is or isn't going on. I was just throwing the power transistor out there as what I was guessing. Checking for spark is the quickest and easiest, so go there first. If you have good spark on all four holes then you can check for fuel, followed by a compression test if necessary.:)

Here's a link that has some nice pictures to help you know what your looking for if you have to find the power transistor though.;) Good luck:thumb:

Alright so on my way to get to the crank position sensor, I found the balance shaft belt to be torn to peices and thats what broke the sensor clean off, the timing belt had some gouges in it as well, so im gunna go ahead and replace all three components, is the balance belt something common that will brake, because I didnt think so. What would cause that belt to brKe?

The balance shaft belt can break anytime, and can take out your timing belt on the way. That's why most people eliminate the balance shaft. You might as well eliminate it while your in there. You may also want to replace the idlers and tensioner while your replacing your timing belt to be on the safe side. If you decide to eliminate the balance shaft then you should also replace youŕ crank seal, front case seal, and water pump. If need help on eliminating the balance shaft visit vfaq.

Also, before you remove the timing belt, make sure you have not jumped time, and everything aligns correctly.

ok, so i bought all the parts already, ready to slap it all on, how much would this usually cost in labor at a shop? im just wondering.

Just because the ecu throws the code for bad crank position sensor doesn't mean it is that. A while ago my starter went bad and I kept trying to crank it and it threw the bad crank sensor code. Changed my starter and it started up right away and the code went away. Changing the crank position sensor entitles you to remove the timing cover and can be a PITA to change. I would first do as said above and check to make sure you have fuel, and spark. If you do have fuel and spark then you can check the crank position sensor.

EDIT: Nevermind, I somehow missed the post where you said the crank position sensor cracked in half. I assume a shop would charge over $200 to change this.

Whenever I called local shops they quoted me 6-1000 to replace the timing components. That includes them buying the components though.

I do all my own work, so I don't know how much they'd charge in labor.

my balance shaft belt with only 100 miles on it snapped and was on its way to cause the timing belt to snap. it was the tentioner that was torqued in properly by the shop who installed it.
