Yes, another one of these threads. I searched and saw a lot of people with the same problem, but haven't really found one with a similar situation.

First off, I have a 93 AWD TSI with 99k on it. Only mods I have are MBC, Gauges, and the silencer and air can removed. But all of these mods have been on for a good 2 weeks at least (except the MBC which was hooked up wrong, I hooked it up right and it ran fine for 2 days, until now.)

The car has run fine since i bought it. Ran fine all day today, I pulled up to work parked it, let it cool down with the car on since i dont have a TT. Went into work, came out and car didnt start. It turns over but doesnt start. It was dark out so I havent checked for spark or anything, but we just regapped my plugs a few days ago, as well as did the timing belt. I checked the timing belt and it looked ok as far as I could see, didnt look like it had moved.

Any help would be appreciated.

your question is probably as vague as the answers you found in your searches. engine needs 3 things to run fuel, spark and air. check those 3 things to see if your getting those. if your timing is correct, it must be 1 of those 3 things. find out which 1 your missing (mabey your missing more than 1) and post back. that will better solve your problem.

Its either timing or that you regapped your plugs wrong.

:talon: #7 in Haynes troubleshooting says "Worn, faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs." #9 says "Loose distributor or crank angle sensor is changing ignition timing" those are really the only things that you have lead to.

Is there a VFaq on checking timing? I know my T-Belt is aligned correctly, but how do I check with the CAS?

Ok... update. I have spark, am changing the plugs right now to see if they are actually the problem. I have fuel, as it was obvious on the plugs and the smell. And i have air of course. So what else could it be? This sucks...

Ok, replaced the plugs. Nothing. I checked all the connections i could think of, and everything seemed fine, so I pulled the ECU. It looks great, no looks that I can see front or back. It's EPROM which I think is a good thing (And the fact that I ruled out the ECU is great...$$) So, with this much info is there anything else anyone can suggest?? CAS, I dont know how to check... but could that be the problem? How wil I know?

Thanks everyone, tryin to do this myself since it's a good learning experience haha.
