What is the difference between a 16g turbo and a big 16 g? I have the stock 16 g turbo on my car right now but i know someone selling a big 16 g for 350 brand new (moving) so i need to know if it is worth buying and what advantaged it has. Also is that a good price?
 
The difference is in the amount of air it flows the compressor is a different size
16g 450cfm big 16g 505cfm evo3 16g 550cfm but all come with a tdo5h housing the stock turbo that comes on the 1g is a 14b 405cfm but is also in the same housing but has a 6cm hot side and the 16g's have a 7cm hot side.
 
Are you sure your stock turbo is a 16g? Have you done a motor swap? If not your stock turbo will be a 14b. The 16g's will all have a larger compressor wheel & a larger turbine housing vs the 14b. Each of the three 16g's have a slightly different sized compressor wheel. The smallest would be the small 16g, then the big 16g & then the evoIII 16g having the largest compressor wheel.

A 14b can probably produce around the 300 whp mark while people have made over 400 whp with the evoIII (but not every regular tuner will be able to lay down these kind of numbers). If you do infact have a small 16g, its probably not worth the cost of the upgrade as there won't be a huge difference in performance (unless yours is getting tired) but if you have the stock 14b, then this could be a worthwile upgrade & many do so.

Is the turbo your refering to a Big 16g or evoIII16g, as people refer to both these turbo's as a big 16g depending on who your talking too? Also is this a real MHI turbo the guy is selling on a knock off 16g turbo?
