Turbo sounds from non-turbo LOL?

hey guys my friend has a 95 eclipse.. he doesnt know if it is a GS or a GST.. ive been around honda's forever(forgive me hah)and have turbo charged quite a few.. just new to the engine of a DSM he wants to trade me for my truck i have.. it seriously sounds like there is a spooling of a turbo in his exhuast.. i look under the hood and i see no turbo off the exhaust manifold.. unless its underneith the heatsheild.. also ive looked and searched through the site and his intake goes to the driver side.. where as most of you guys are on the passenger side.. this means he have a 420a correct? so that means its not turbo?
