Turbo RPM vs Engine RPM

Hey guys,

During a WOT pull does the turbo spin faster at higher RPM even if the waste gate is set at 15psi ? So the main question is: If I have 15psi at 3000RPM does the turbo RPM will be faster at 7500RPM if I'm still at 15psi ?

Well I'm pretty sure the turbo RPM will be higher since it need to push more aire to keep the 15psi but I don't know how to explain this to my friend ...

What about if we go no waste gate ? Does the turbo RPM will increase with the engine RPM ? I think it does but I don't find any source to show him.

Turbo RPMs range from 25,000 RPMs to 150,000+ RPMs

and the higher the engine speed the more air your engine consumes so your turbo would have to spin faster to mantain pressure which is the whole point of a WG which is to control turbo speed/output/ and PSI

Your wastegate bypasses the excess exhaust past the turbo when the desired boost is reached.

So at 15psi it opens up and let's the exhaust pass through without going through turbine. The pressure is kinda like a throttle. When it dips below 15 it closes the wastegate to spool the turbo. It controls how much exhaust it needs to reach the desired boost.

And yes your engine consumes more air at higher rpm your filling a chamber over and over at a quicker pace so it needs to keep up. Though I don't know the curve of this increase.

Well yesterday he was telling me that the turbo RPM would be the same all the time during a pull when you stay at the same PSI ... Now today he's telling me the turbo RPM will decrease while the engine RPM is going up ...

I'm sorry I've waist your time with this. I'll tell him he's an idiot ... It's hard to argu with him since he join a racing team and now thinks he's the shit. Poor team, if they only knew ...
