Ok So this is my second turbo i just got t3/t4 hybrid and same problem

After install no boosting just at idle, once the car gets warmed up, it just starts smoking:mad::notgood: like its blown . so i checked my o2 sensor , it had oil in it and once i took of the o2 down pipe , had oil all over..

any idea why is there oil every where???/:cry::pray:

Where are you getting your oil feed line from? The oil filter housing or the top of the head? Also does your car have balance shafts? Is this an e-bay type turbo?

We need more info. Was this a new turbo? What kind of turbo was it? T3/T4 could be any one of a hundred turbos. Where was the oil feed from, the head or the oil filter housing? Was the turbo ball bearing or journal bearing? Did you install with a filter or restrictor in the feed line?

Is this one new as well? It sounds like the turbo seals are blown but check for shaft play and pray:pray:

and no no restrictors . think i should?

YES! if you are feeding a journal bearing turbo from the filter housing with no balance shafts, you must have a restrictor! no if and or buts about it! If you for whatever reason cant get a restrictor feed it from the cylinder head. My guess is that you have around 90+ oil psi at wot and you are pushing a ton of oil out past the oil seals thus causing all of the oil in your 02 and exhaust. Then when the exhaust heats up the oil burns off creating the white smoke you are seeing.

No shaft play is a good thing. You might be able to salvage that turbo. Try feeding it from the head with the correct size restrictor/filter (the size matters on whether or not it is a ball bearing or journal bearing turbo, which you still haven't said).

You should not need a restrictor if you are feeding from the head! By looking at his pics looks like its a journal bearing ebay 50 trim:ohdamn:.

I feed my 3052 from the head with a restrictor, motor has BSE and a ported OFH, though if it is a JB turbo it is less important, I still probably would run an FP filter/restrictor unit made for a JB turbo.

Crush washers act as a kind of gasket, they are made of soft copper and deform when torqued, sealing the banjo bolts. If you didn't use them you would have an external oil leak on the CHRA, but it wouldn't explain why there was oil in the exhaust.

yea thats what im trying to find out, im thinking maybe to much oil flow.?

What does your oil return line look like? Is it kinked? Have you checked for any obstructions on the inside of the line? It does not take a whole lot of obstruction in the line to make oil start pushing past the seals on a turbo.

Ok just installed the new line from the cylinder head and turbo blew.
At ffisrt everything was good , good idle no smoke , no oil i reved it a couple of times and then 5 mintues later smoke everywere.

shaft play and oil in the intake side. Gonna look into a better turbo for my setup

any good turbo suggestions?

1 more question , never really looked into .
Is it better to be water cooled or non?

I would say water cooled? What are you going to do with these 3 blown turbos you have? You can rebulid them for like 65. I think you still have something wrong that your overlooking. Id get the problem solved before throwing another more expensive turbo on it. Even the ebay cheapys usually hold up longer than 5 min ROFL
