every time i start the car lots and lots of smoke comes out of the exhaust. people are telling me its the head gasket and some are saying i need a new turbo , me i think its the turbo.. anyone know where i can get a stock turbo for a 95 gsx?

What color is the smoke?? And does it smoke while your driving it?? Check your coolant are you going through a lot of it in a short period of time?? I would think Head gasket before turbo but give us some more information.

It could also be valve seals. check your plugs if one cylinder has a fouled plug it could be seals or rings, a compresion test will tell you either way.
Check your turbo as well, if it has alot of up and down play (a very small amount is normal) or if it has any in out play chances are its shot.

Yeap, turbo... in and out shaft play is a no-no... A little side to side is okay... Only a little though...

How much do you want to spend? With a bigger turbo, you need supporting mods... Or, because you have a 2g, you could always get a 14b off of a 1g, a little bigger.

I believe you have that backwards. Minimal side to side play is ok as long as it doesn't touch the compressor housing. In and out isn't okay.

Yea he did have it backwards, in and out is bad. Side to side is ok as long as it dont touch the housing. You never mentioned it smoked as you boosted, thats what usually happens when the turbo seals fail like that.

well im new to this turbo thing this is actually my first car when i got it i didnt think i would keep it for long but now i want to and i want to fix it up...i want it to be fast of course but also comfortable i was gonna get a stock turbo but i figure im going to change it in the future anyway so why not get a bigger one now

Ok well if you want a comfortable 300 hp go with the evoIII 16g it will be plenty for you with 550 injectors (or you can just run evo 8 injectors, your choice) and you can swap out an evo8 fuel pump. you will have to have a logger and an SAFC will work fine for those injectors. But if you want to go bigger, close and above 400, i would go with the a 50 trim turbo like the PTE, you will need bigger injectors like 650 or 750 depending on how far you want to go with the turbo, and tha SAFC wont compensate for injectors that big so you will have to get dsm link (like $600 with getting your ecu socketed, so you can hook up your lap top) and a 255 lph fuel pump will work fine. you have all kinds of options.
