turbo or exhaust/intake?

Well warranty is getting my engine rebuilt, so I thought about putting the rest of my money towards upgrades. I don't know if I should get a turbo kit or exhaust/CAI. Everything on the car is stock, but what would gimme more power? The turbo cant work full potential cuz of the stock exhaust... Help?

turbo would be stage 1 star..exhaust would be a greddy, build my own CAI

You'd be better off just selling that & buying yourself a turboed DSM. If that's not an option, I'd start off small. Get the exhaust first. If you get the turbo, you have to get all the supporting mods for it all at once. Or just wait until you have enough money, then buy it (Turbo, exhaust, etc) all at once.

When it comes to n/a vehicles, there's only three ways to extract serious power from them:

1. Internals. High compression pistions and an increased stroke (from a longer crank) will combine to produce a bigger bang and more power. A time-tested method that's good for everything from 383 stroker small block chevys to 2.3 stroker 4G63's. Expensive yes, but worth it.

2. Forced induction. Turbo or supercharger. Each has it's positives and negatives. Hahn racecraft makes turbo kits for 2G n/t engines, as well as a few other companies.

3. Nitrous. The chemical supercharger. Easy to install, easy to use, but bottle refills can be costly over time.

If you're serious about extracting as much from your 2G as possible, you need to do some planning ahead. Your basic bolt-on's (intake/header/exhaust) will only serve to increase your engine's efficency and free up lost horsepower trapped by the restrictions in the stock components rather than make serious power.

With that said, get the exhaust, and CAI, but plan on chucking the CAI if you get a turbo, and don't expect much power out of the exhaust and intake.
