Turbo in a esi?

yes you should be able too, but id wach how much boost you do with a stock head gasket. it should hold but if you hold high boost it gan blow your gasket. ive don turbo modifys before and they worked good until i overboosted. also you might look at aftermarket kits because they are easyer to install and can get a boost controller as well.

If you're just talking about the turbo only, yes it can work if you can find a manifold to fit it. If you're talking about a motor swap, no. The motor won't fit without heavy modification and is generally termed as unswappable.

You have a 420A engine like the Eclipse N/T cars. There are a ton of threads about this. There is also a section on how to turbo a 420A.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/420a-turbo-conversion/366603-end-all-parts-list-go-turbo.html

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-turbo-system-intercooler/181134-how-build-420a-stage-2-turbo-kit-under-1000-a.html

And also 2gnt.com has TONS of turbo threads.

My advice is that if you have not experience with working on your car, then I would not attempt it. 420A can handle 5-8PSI (some say 10PSI but YMMV). the threads above will have full parts list of what you will need.

*Edit*

Also, If you plan on using a T25 or 14B turbo on yours from a factory turbo-ed DSM then you will need to fabricate your own manifold and tap into the water cooling lines.

If you are thinking of a 4g63 swap then I would read THIS THREAD. It shows that it CAN be done but will need a lot of fabrications.

I am sorry but this is a "not so tech" advice you have given here. They are some here that are running small boost on stock internals and head gaskets have not been an issue (so I have read). A true 420A turbo build would consist of forged internals and mega-squirt to be full tunable and to handle higher amounts of boost.

To run any more than 8 psi, you need to build the block and have a way to tune (like megasquirt)

Youd never make it that far without building the motor.. If you read those links they should answer all your questions man.. 15-20 and first pull youll pop a headgasket at the very least.. Especially seeming you have no experience tuning.. If your going to do this research the shit out of it and then keep the boost low unless you build the motor..

There isn't one thing you need to learn its a collective process of LOTS of information..

For starters id say you need to learn to turn your own wrenches if you don't already as it will save you a lot of money doing it yourself..

Second and just as important learn to always pay more and take the harder rout when modding.. It may cost more time and money and be harder too do but it will pay off in the end.. Spend more buy it once spend less buy it 2+times.

Third learn as much as you can about what goes well together and how too tune the car.. Tuning makes or breaks the car in ANY modded car not just tuners.. You can put 100grand into a car and do a shitty tune and all youve got is a 100k dollar car thats slow and dies quickly..
Forth research.. Day in and day out research before and as your modding the car everything has been covered in these forums it just takes time too find it.. And if you cant find it ask someone else has and can help or at least point you in the right direction..

AND DON'T GET FRUSTRATED WHEN SOMETHING BREAKS OR DOESN'T WORK.. If you get mad your going to make mistakes and mistakes just don't work well with these cars..

Lol i think that outta get you started any questions?????????

In addition to scott's post, you need to develop a goal first. This way you are not buying parts twice, or buying parts that you don't need. After you find your goal research what you need to obtain it, and go from there.

Wow thanks scott now I have a lot of questions!!! Ok, one is what should I do to my talon

Well maintenance is always first.. Change timing belt and balance shaft belt.. Change serpentine belts if they need it.. Compression check to ensure that your motor can handle the added stress of a turbo.. make sure there are no leaks and that ALL seals are good in the motor..

After that start saving cause everything else youd need should be bought at once.. Well i take that back you can buy them seperate but at the very least they should be installed at the same time...

Then when youve got some money saved up buy a turbo exhaust mani,a turbo, full turbo exhuast at least to the cat and get a catback. Get a intercooler kit and then injectors and some sort of tuning devise..Youll also need to find a way to tap the water lined and youll need to find a way to feed oil to the turbo

Gusu is right though it would be cheaper and more reliable just to buy a stock turbo car.. If thats not an option follow what ive stated above..

The difference is in torque steer, traction, and launch capabilities..

If you plan on going AWD just sell you car and buy an AWD the conversion is A really difficult and B is way more expensive then just buying an AWD car.. Not to mention the AWD's come with a turbo too..

FWD is great for highway or rolling pulls.. They weigh a few hundred pounds less then an AWD and have a bit less drive train loss.. The issue with them is traction.. Once you start modding the car torque steer and traction are really big issues and you'll need to invest big in tires and suspension to keep the tires from spinning..

Ive heard of people who can rip them in 4th and 5th on the freeway trying to do a pull.. Not to mention trying to launch on the track.. You need good technique and really good slicks and suspension or youll just burn them the whole way down the track.

AWD cars are the opposite.. Not quite as quick on rolling pulls but WAY better traction and launches..

They suffer from a bit more power loss threw the drive train and tent to break more driveline parts as they don't break traction easily and when your making huge power somethings got to give.. But if you know how to launch properly that isn't an issue..

They have way better track capabilities without putting 5k+ into tires and suspension and are great in snow and rain..LOL not to mention is cool too say ya its AWD and people are like what really??

Ok well It has aftermarket rims on it. Plus it has ZR107 tires on it which I found out that it is 4-5 hundred bucks so the tires im not really worried about but i do have a box of energy bushings that im goin to put on the car when i get a chance with a lift. And for the hood. Im goin to cut a lil bit out of the bumb on it and make that a all original scop on it. Then for the exterior on it im going to paint it a stealt black on it..
