So I finally got my dream car, a 99 GSX:D I have always had DSM's just the n/t versions:notgood: hahaha. Since day one I have lived by this forum and it has helped me tremendously. So let me start by saying THANKYOU DSMers. On to the point....

Ok, so I have already started reading up and studying what NOT to do, and I do plan on following the upgrade path like its the DSM bible. My only question is do most of you DSMers believe this is the best way for me to go?

I am shooting for a 280-300ish hp DD (while keeping it sleeper, hence the name).

Louisiana dsm'ers! Sweet! Im from a small town south of alexandria, la. I live and work in nebraska now but i come home pretty often for some good food haha...might have to plan something for next time i come home. Hopefully my 90gsx project will be done.
Very clean car btw and congrats on the deal!

Like i said GSxtreme, more pics will come in time.

I like the SMIC idea. I've always liked the FMIC look but it would completely blow the sleeper look. I'll just see what I'm feeling when the time comes.

All i know is that car in white has always been one of the hottest colors with a nice CF hood and some good wheels IMO.

I totally agree with the suspension, that is going to be one of my first upgrades along with a set of rims. Either some konig afterburner's or some nice enkei evo 5's. Black ofcourse.

Im still debating on the FMIC/SMIC plan. Time will tell.

We're definitely going to have have a DSM day down here then man. Ive got a friend that lives like a block from me that has a black 99 GSX putting down some pretty decent numbers. Let's get together sometime.

hynotic about how much are you putting out? I was looking through your upgrades and they're pretty similar to my plans.

I havent dynoed at all so im not sure...if it means anything my friends with 350z (300crank hp) and i have made numerouse runs and its dead even... im only at 14psi with no tune yet...

This guy has very similar mods to myself...View Profile: mtwollet - DSMtuners.com

It would be cool to get together and have a BBQ or something. My DSM is broke  right now so I wont be sportin it around for a while. :(

If not for work I would say yes )= maybe next time. Lets definitely get together sometime though. From what im seeing, there is not a MAJOR DSM scene in LA but there are quite a few of us spread pretty evenly throughout. Maybe we need to find a descent halfway point in LA and have a DSM day.

We need to get on the Gulf Coast regional, and start p/m'ing people. Get a date, time, place together. Get it all organized. Find out if someone in the nearby can hook us up with a grill and we can get some funds for some food and fun.

Hopefully by then I will have started to do some mods, I got alot of learning to do though! First turbo car and all...

Yep, another DSMer, fatherbubble, lives in Baton Rouge. I'm sure he'll be up to it. Technically my second turbo car since the last GSX was totaled. :(:notgood::barf::mad:

:dsm:

BTW, what's the first piece of maintenance your going to do?

Well I will talk to my friend jake who lives a block away, he has a 99 GSX also. Looks like the fun begins haha.

I plan on changing out all fluids. Oil, brake, coolant, ECT. Then cleaning out air filter and my throttle body to free up a little horsepower.
I'm not sure when the car was last given a tune up so that will probably be something i will look into. My dad's friend is a mech. and he will be coming to by to give the car a full inspection soon. After that the actual first mod will be my intake.
