I know the new hta gt3586r just came out and I'm in the market for a 35r.

A friend of mine has told me that the hta gt3586r has the same spool time as a 3582 but the power of a gt37r.

what does the second number mean?(82/86) and is what my friend said close to true?

the new hta has anyone had experence with noticing a good difference in spool time? can anyone give me there spool times with the hta 3586r or hta 3582r

what determines the spool time of the turbo?

does that affect the power of the turbo? (i'm pretty sure yes just asking)

does the hta 3586r spool later then the hta 82r? how much?

please leave all negitve feed back or comments in some other fourm I don't need it and it doesn't help.

I have a great understanding of cars, motors, and how it all works its just the turbo that I still have to learn about (hince this thread)

all help is much MUCH MUCH APPERICATED!

The 82 and 86 numbers are the diameter of the Compressor wheel, the 82 has a diameter of 82mm and a flow rating of 70 lbs.min, the 86 has a 86mm diameter wheel with a flow rating of 80 lbs/min.

On a 2.4 a good friends non HTA FP3582R in a DSM hotside has 20 PSI by 3800. I've seen another log from 2.3 with a HTA FP3582 that had 30 psi by 4200 RPM.

Spool time has many variables but a few that affect it are: the exhaust wheel size and configuration(trim, blade size etc), size of the hot side and how large of a compressor the turbine wheel is turning. Intake/Exhaust manifold configuration, intercooler pipe length, engine compresion ratio and cam choice.

Yes, the 86 will spool slower than the 82 all things being equal, I've heard 200-500 RPM. Should know shortly what it actually is as a friend is having his 35R turned into a 3586 HTA.
