i recently got a fully built dsm and love it im just having a few problems.. 1 there was a crack in the turbo manifold and i wire welded it and its fine. 2 the turbo is seeming like it only wants to spool if you give it a little bit of throttle if you floor it nothing happens.. the person i got it from said its just the tuning currently it has a apexi neo its running around 24psi any advice? probly just need to get it re-tuned?

note: he tuned it that way due to the crack in the turbo manifold

The only thing I can really think of is a leak somewhere.

I look at it like this, if you do have a small crack or a leak somewhere than when you tap the gas a little, SOME air will come out but some of it will bypass the leak spot and make it to the turbine. But when you floor it, the pressure is too great for it to be bypassed and seeps out. It sounds crazy, but it is definitely possible.

That's just my logic of course....Try doing a compression test, followed by a boost leak down test to see if you have a leak in the manifold or anywhere else.

If they both come back with good results, than you might wanna look at the turbo its self.
For some reason, I don't think it has anything to do with the tuning, I could be wrong though.
Definitely try the compression test and the leak down test.

A mods list helps. But it COULD be a tune issue. If it is WAY too rich a wide open throttle you won't get enough exhaust velocity to spool the turbo.

Now that I think twice, it could be an issue with the tuning seeing as it was tuned for the crack in the manifold.
But a leak somewhere just sounds a little more valid especially considering it already had a crack in the Mani and also considering even if it was rich it should still spool the turbo a little.

Maybe it could be both??

I would suggest the doing Compression test first ONLY because it is cheaper to do,
You should definitely take into consideration that it could also be the tuning.

Leave no leaf unturned.

thank you so much there is a leak in the turbo and the exhaust runs so rich wide open that nothing happens so i think its a combo of both...
