First of all, I have done some searching for the answers to my questions and have found some answers to some of my questions, but it really has not made my mind up on anything. I have a little bit of money coming at the first of the year so I am thinking about getting some things for my GST.

My first question is my tuning options. I am getting a fuel pump off a VR4 for free(180lph) and I am thinking about getting some 550's. All I am using for a turbo is my buddies old 14B for now. I am thinking pretty high boost with that. My first thought was the S-AFC2, but then my friend got the MAF-T and he likes that a lot. Either way I am pretty sure I am getting a logger here pretty soon, but what do you think I should get? I know the AFC can fine tune a bit better, but how much better?

My second question is my intercooler. It is stock now, but when I run high boost on a 14B, I am going to want something to prevent any kind of heat soak. I was at first thinking a front mount, but then I read up on the Supra Sidemounts and they are supposed to support 450hp and that is nothing that I will ever reach. I see them advertised for around $200 shipped and that is not bad. I have been looking at the seven inch tall JR intercoolers on EBay for about $700 shipped. I was just wondering if you guys think it would be worth the extra $400 to get the front mount?

Sorry if this was sort of long, but I just had some questions and explaining to do. Feel free to give me your opinions on anything that I have said. You can criticize to if you want to, I will take into my thinking.

Thanks in advance guys.

you wont get too much heat soak on the smic with a 14b.. and a 14b kinda falls off around 18 psi and you will need all the supporting mods to hit that.. a lot of people say a fmic is too much for a 14b but if you plan on upgradeing to a 16g later on. a fmic is a perfect combo for it.. as it stands a 14b and a supra smic i think sounds like a decent option. with some 550;s and a safc..

just my .02

If you truely only intend on using that 14b a supra sidemount should be plenty if you don't try to run it out of it's efficiency range. It'll save you some cash too.

Personally I think the Safc is a better tuning tool, especially if you are a beginner. Maft users seem to experience trouble with knock and tuning depending on humidity and other random tuning hurdles. Most suggest using a Keydiver chip as well as the MAFT. The main advantage to the MAFT and MAF sensor is getting rid of the restrictive MAS but in your case you don't have that problem. For stricly tuning an afc and logger will work great.
